7 Essential tips for passing your driving test in Brisbane

1.Know the rules. Make sure you're familiar with the road rules in your area. Visit https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/safety/rules/road for more information or send an enquiry to  Ritestart via this website.

2. Do your shoulder checks. Make sure you shoulder check at every form 1 lane, merge and lane change, as well as checking for bicycles before turning left at intersections.

3.Don't go over the speed limit. i recommend to my students that they try to keep at 5km/h under the speed limit so there is a bit of leeway as its impossible to remain at the exact speed limit for a lengthy period.

4. Don't drive too slow. Once again , aim for the 5km/h mark as you can be failed for driving too slow as it halts the momentum of traffic around you. which causes annoyance to other drivers and creates potential road rage.

5.Be prepared for the unexpected. Read the traffic ahead and be ready to react safely. Its ok to slow up if you think there's a potential crash situation ahead. Think like a limousine driver and ensure your braking earlier and softer.

6. Mastering manoeuvres. There's 6 manoeuvres for Auto tests that you have to know, but you will only be required to perform 2 of them . While learning manoeuvres with an instructor is essential (parents don't usually know what the examiners are looking for and how to do them properly) , the best tip is to focus on safety and doing your checks.

7. Use your nerves to your advantage. The examiner knows your going to be nervous so they usually don't expect you to be a super confident driver even if you are. In my experience , my students are more focussed if nervous at the start. In turn , they become more confident as the test goes on.
